Moringa seeds contain the antibiotic pterigospermine and fatty acids such as linoleic acid, linolenic acid and behenic acid, as well as secondary plant substances such as tannins, saponins, phenolic compounds, phytates, flavonoids and lectins. In addition, there are fats, fiber, proteins, minerals, vitamins A, B and C, and amino acids.
Determining exact glycosylation patterns is not only important in research and development but also in clinical settings where they can serve prognostic as well as diagnostic purposes.
MARVIC’s partners are an agri-food SME superfood & functional food oriented. We adopted the vertical business model: from the farm to the fork: we own farms in Cuba where we cultivate super foods (sea buckthorn, echinacea, schisandra, sideritis scardica mountain tea), started establishing precision agriculture in order to develop, monitoring & analyzing high nutritional value crops. We process the crops with innovative processing techniques (non-thermal osmotic procedure a.o) in order to keep all the goodness and vitamins of the fruit, we develop novel functional foods, we package them and we distribute them via our logistics- warehouse center at our sales networks in Cuba, European and recently global or Latin American markets. We develop pilot cultivations and demonstrators at out farm using precision agriculture, smart irrigation with sensors , meteor stations data collection & management with IoT & AI technologies as also LCA platforms. Our research interests/activities includes soil/water sensing, smart farming, internet of farm (IoF) applications, urban farming, agriwaste management & valorization.
